Many gamers have been dismissing the Battlefield 3 Beta as nothing more than a demo to the community for marketing purposes. This isn’t the case however, as DICE stated today in a post on the Battlefield Blog.
There has been a lot of buzz recently regarding the Beta being a bit buggy and unstable at times. A lot of people making claims of such things are probably unaware that the Beta that everybody is running is actually more than a month old. The reason for such a time gap is “[…] due to testing, certification, and setting up.” The blog post also clarifies that all platforms are running on dedicated servers and that a lot of the reason for the Beta is the need to test the new back end structure. DICE also stated that the Battlefield 3 Beta is seeing six times the number of simultaneous players when compared to the Beta for Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
